You tube has great resources for the classroom, but it is not without it’s drawbacks. Besides many times being blocked by a district’s web filter, you have no way to control what “suggested” videos will appear at the end of a clip. Showing this live to a class can be risky. It is best to use the federal “Fair Use Clause” to your benefit, and download the video for use in your class.

In past months, some of the more popular video downloading sites have shut down, but one still exists for now. SaveMedia.com allows you to enter a URL and submit it for conversion into a variety of video formats. For a fee, you can also extract the audio of the video as a separate file.
